Okay, can I get some general advice from you runners?

runners advice17 Okay, can I get some general advice from you runners?
Runner’s Question: I am training for a half-marathon which is in 9 weeks. So far my logest run has been 9km in 1hr, is this ok?

How much should I increase my distance each week – is 2km too much?

What speed should I aim to be running at (I’m a beginner but young and quite fit) and what would be a good time for me to aim for?

Any training advice will be appreciated. Thanks, Run Like Hell-ers!

Also why do I get pins and needles in my arms after running for a while?

Seeking Advice From Some College Runners

runners advice16 Seeking Advice From Some College Runners
Runner’s Question: Lately have been thinking about trying out for my college’s track team, but have never ran track. I have been noticing that I have pretty good energy and stamina after my workout: when I run on the treadmill & cool down at the gym. I’m about 6ft 1′ and 168lbs. I run but my calves give out before my lungs do. Can anyone who has experience with this please give me some advice? Thanks sooo much icon smile Seeking Advice From Some College Runners

Oh yeah, and I’m seeking advice on leg exercises I should do, things to eat in particular, things I should really focus on to help improve conditioning to be prepared, etc. Thanks RLH readers!

runners advice10 Advice from serious runners about my first half marathon?
Runner’s Question: I am running my first 1/2 marathon at the beginning of November (in Taiwan). TRAINING SO FAR: For the past 5 weeks I have been training for the 1/2 marathon (5 days a week…Runners World prgm). I still lift weights 5 days a week (only upper body). Ok? I started marathon training at the end of August so it will be about 9 weeks of marathon specific training (before that I lifted weights 5 days a week and jogged for cardio exercise 3 days a week). LIFE STYLE CHANGES: I have sucessfully given up little things like drinking beer, soda, and eating sweets. I’ve been stretching a lot, drinking lots of water, and taking ibprofen. QUESTIONS: I have an okay pair of running shoes that are getting a bit warn (soles and the begins of a tear in the side of my shoe). They will probably be okay until the marathon but not much longer. Is it too late to consider a new pair? Also, what other advice can serious runners give me so I will be as physically and mentally prepared as possible for the big day?
